The Chipping Campden Festival Academy Orchestra is widely acknowkedged as the UK's foremost side-by-side orchestral training scheme. Founded in 2008, the CCFAO is formed anew each year and performs three concerts at the Chipping Campden International Music Festival. Twenty-three 'Academy' members, selected by audition, are paired with professional players hand-picked from the UK's leading orchestras. Each concert features international soloists including past performances with the likes of Paul Lewis, Imogen Cooper, Steven Osborne, Nicola Benedetti, Anthony Marwood, Jack Liebeck, Alison Balsom, Lawrence Power, Julian Lloyd Webber, Adrian Brendel, Michael Collins, Emily Beynon, Dame Sarah Connolly, Kate Royal, Elizabeth Watts, Mark Padmore, Roderick Williams and Allan Clayton. Next May, festival regulars Steven Isserlis and Richard Goode will perform with the orchestra, along with the 2021 Leeds Piano Competition winner Alim Beisembayev. Conducted by Thomas Hull, the orchestra will be resident in Chipping Campden, deep in the Cotswolds, from Sunday 15th May until Saturday 21st May 2022.
